Maxipime (ceftriaxone) is used to treat pneumonia caused by susceptible strains of Streptococcus pneumoniae, including cases associated with concurrent bacteremia, pseudomonas aeruginosa, klebsiella pneumoniae, or enterobacter species.

Maxipime is also used to treat a variety of bacterial infections, including those of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin and soft tissues, intra-abdominal infections, and septicemia. It is often used in hospital settings for serious infections.

The active ingredient, cefepime, works by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. It achieves this by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), enzymes involved in the construction of the bacterial cell wall. This interference weakens the cell wall, leading to bacterial cell death.

What It Treats

Maxipime is used to treat moderate to severe pneumonia and other bacterial infections. It is also used to treat a number of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)

Prescribed By

Maxipime is most often prescribed by Infectious Disease Specialists.
