Radicava (edaravone) is an infusion drug approved for the treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, leading to the loss of voluntary muscle movement.
In ALS, oxidative stress contributes to damage within nerve cells, leading to inflammation and cell death. Radicava mitigates this oxidative stress by neutralizing harmful free radicals, reducing the potential damage to nerve cells.
