Tepezza (teprotumumab) is used to treat thyroid eye disease (TED), a rare and serious autoimmune disorder that affects the eyes. TED involves inflammation and swelling of the tissues around the eyes, leading to symptoms such as proptosis (bulging eyes), double vision, and pain.

Tepezza is a monoclonal antibody, designed to target and bind to specific molecules in the body. It targets the insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF-1R), which plays a role in the inflammation and tissue expansion observed in thyroid eye disease. By blocking this receptor, Tepezza helps mitigate the underlying autoimmune processes, reducing inflammation and improving the symptoms associated with TED.
