Tremfya (guselkumab) is used to treat moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis and active psoriatic arthritis.
The active substance in Tremfya, guselkumab, is an antibody designed to attach to interleukin-23 (IL-23) and block its activity. IL-23 is a protein that controls the growth and maturation of some types of T cells. These T cells are involved in causing inflammation that is linked to the development of ulcerative colitis. By blocking the action of IL-23, Tremfya reduces inflammation and symptoms associated with the disease.
